Over $172 Million in Grants Approved for Residential Grant Program
Program Offices Scheduled to Close

The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation announced that over $172 million in grants have been approved and more than 38,000 applications received for the Residential Grant Program as of June 2003. The program provides assistance to residents who lived downtown on September 11, 2001 and continue to reside in Lower Manhattan, as well as offering financial incentives to new residents who make a two-year commitment to live downtown. Additionally, with the passing of the deadline to apply for the program on June 14, 2003, the program offices will close their doors at the end of this month. The offices, located at 225 Park Row and 68 Reade Street, have been serving grant applicants since the launch of the program in June 2002.

Residents who have questions about their applications and wish to meet with program representatives are encouraged to visit the program offices before August 29, 2003. The offices are open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm. In addition, the office located at 225 Park Row is open on Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm while the office at 68 Reade Street opens on Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm. Applicants may also submit supporting documents by mail. All documentation submitted by mail must be postmarked by September 15, 2003.

The program hotline 1-866-RenewNYC (736-3969) will remain available to assist applicants with questions about the status of their applications after the closing of the program offices. The hotline is open Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm, excluding holidays.
